Just because other people make bad choices isn't a good enough reason for you to do the same. For someone who went so far outside the box and didn't listen to others, it seems silly to justify cutting that corner because others have. All it takes is one little rock, piece of glass from an accident or part of a tire shred to cause major problems, especially since you're missing the plastic shields under the engine. At the very least, get those shields put on and inspect the belt before every drive. If that's too much hassle or isn't possible, rework the covers and put them back on. Heck, you could even cut out a small "viewing window" with a piece of clear lexan if you want to be able to check the belt condition from time to time. With all that great work you've done, I think the car deserves it. You certainly have the skill. /analcarguy
